October Night Sky:
Dazzling Jupiter puts on the best show of all the planets this month. It rises in the east about 10 p.m. As October begins and gradually earlier as the month goes on, It climbs high in south during the night. Gleaming Venus rises in the east about 3 hours before sunrise. It will pass close to the bright star Regulus Oct. 3. The crescent moon will be near it Oct. 12. Meteor showers: The Taurids shower is active during evenings from now through early December. The Orionid shower peaks Oct. 21. New Moon 10/15. Full Moon 10/30.
